About Salt & Shore

"Being the Beloved constitutes the core truth of our existence.”

My name is Kevin and I am a licensed mental health counselor in South Seattle serving children, adolescents, and young adults.

I began Salt and Shore Counseling with a desire to reach what I believe is the core of what troubles most young ones looking for counseling; the desire to be known without knowing where, how, or when that longing will be fulfilled.

After spending time in Chicago, where I received my MEd from DePaul University, I returned home to the PNW. Before moving to Chicago, I attended Gonzaga University, (Go Zags), and then volunteered for a year in the Boston Public Schools through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. I believe in the value of mental healthcare, social/emotional learning, and strong community. I began my work as a school counselor, which has informed my practice and given me perspective to work with children as they navigate issues of everyday childhood and adolescents.

As you or a loved one enters into therapy with me, please know that we cannot go anywhere without a trusting relationship. I intent to leave my beliefs and judgments behind as I get to know you, but if asked, I will certainly share aspects of who I am if I believe it will increase the value of our relationship. I look forward to getting to know you.

On this site, you will see references to my Catholic faith. I love my faith and live everyday with those values, but I do not strictly counsel with faith-led theory. I use aspects of CBT, DBT, play therapy, and person-centered therapy to reach my clients where they are.
